Re: hd settings

This has been discussed many times on these forums. It would seem that the most common setting on a wide screen HD ready TV with a V+ box is 720 wide.

The picture will not look much different to 1080 wide, in fact I can't tell the difference on my Panasonic, but the menus on 1080 are out of focus - in 720 they are crystal clear.

Hope that helps

And they can't help either because at a typical viewing distance of 8 feet it's beyond the limit of human vision to differentiate.

Have a read of this (and all of you V+ HD fanboys before you jump on my case)

http://www.audioholics.com/education...f-human-vision

But here's a snip

Put bluntly, from 8 feet away while watching a 50 inch plasma TV, the human eye is generally incapable of reliably distinguishing any detail finer than that shown on a true 720p display!

Never mind on a 32" dislpay where the dots are physically even smaller.
