Picture Quality with old TV

Is picture quality better with V+ than the old STB? I haven't got a HDTV, in fact the TV is 10+ years old but I'm convinced the picture is hugely better than it was before.

Anyone know?

Does Radio 1 sound any better on a brand new DAB radio than on a 10 year old FM radio, most probably. The resolution on an HD TV as long as it is displaying HD pictures (no all channels are HD, in fact there are surprisingly few) can be anything up to 4 times that of a conventional TV, and manages a good job of the normal Standard Definition channels, but as with anything, unless you have a good quality unit, nothing will look any good anyway.

I think you may have misunderstood. What I'm saying is that I have an old TV set. I thought that the V+ could only deliver better picture quality on an HDTV. However, I think all channels look better through it on my old TV than they did through my old standard set top box. So, what I am asking is - does the V+ deliver better picture quality than the standard set top boxes or am I imagining it? It's just I hadn't read it was one of the benefits and I'm very impressed so far.

There probably is a difference, but, depending on which box you had before, it may just be down to improvements made in decoding circuitry in the last few years. Although if you had a Samsung box, these are actually newer than the V+ design.

It was an old C&W Pace box.
