Rant over...normal viewing will now resume...unless u have a V+ box..... :P

How on earth are you getting the TiVo to work with VM's network?

I kept the other box for 5 quid a month. Tivo works just fine with it and has done for the last 5 years ...it has an IR wand to change channels on the box.
Use RF to pipe it around the house and an IR sender to control it from downstairs as I prefer it to the V+.
Its just a pity it doesn't do HD or I wouldn't have bothered with V+

Re: Gadget Show last night..
Well I'd say you've got a dodgy V+. We have several series links for recordings, use the box every evening for 2+ hours, pause live TV, use OD etc. The last reboot was 2 weeks ago because the clock was out. Prior to that it was about a month.
Having said all that, I was on the TiVO launch team for Comet when it came out. And you're quite right - there's still nothing to touch it in terms of usability.

Re: Gadget Show last night..
One of the main things I like about V+ compared to $ky+ is the on screen picture when browsing the EPG.
Although I see that as a major advantage, is it not also one of the things that slows channel hopping down?

Back to the Gadget show, that special they did with buying x amount of gadgets for a grand was laughable.

Re: Gadget Show last night..
I wouldn't choose that Aria set for my main TV. £450 is a reasonable price for a branded set. And don't get me started on Aria as a company. Clowns.

Re: Gadget Show last night..
im now in a non virgin street (well unless you live from house 1-100 then your cabled up, the rest arent!).
I have sky+ and i kinda miss my V+. Sure the channel changing is slower, but the extra tuner and the info on later shows is something i miss. I also recall that my V+ would not record repeats of gamertv on the sat show, but sky+ does. also, unless im dumb, sky+ just orders all your progs in one list, V+ allowed you to sort by show etc. so i could easily see all my countdown recordings in one go
i miss virgin, I hate having to have a BT line for DSL which is super slow compared to my old speed and im so tired of all the junk on sky channels, the fake boobs out chat girls are just beyond a joke now.
anyway, V+ over Sky+ for me

A lot is driven by cost.
VM seem to have settled for what they see as cost effective, customer satisfaction seems to come second.
Buy a £50 CD Player you get a £50 sound performance, however spend some extra money, that can buy better components and that reaps sonic improvements.
I would have thought that VM told their " supplier (s) " the specifications they wanted, and the supplier(s) would have informed VM of the cost.
