V+ and HDMI switch boxes

As anyone been able to get a v+ to work with any auto switch boxes successfully?

i've been struggling because my current switch does nto switch if the v+ is on standby (as if a signal is still being sent down the cable) - i have to manually press the switch button to force the switch

anyone know of any switch boxes which work?

Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

I have the pair and go one 5 way "auto" one from ebuyer...

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132435

... to swtich between my V+ and my Samsung HT-X30R. This acts the same as yours and does not auto switch.I have tried with and without an external PSU as recommended on the reviews section on ebuyer. think i'm going to have to get a remote controlled one instead.

Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

i think the v+ is still sending a signal which is why the switches are not working correctly.

I've just gone and switched it to component becuase it was doing my head in!
heeh

the signal is fine with component to be honest (helps that i have some good QED component cables )

so now i dont need the switch box and i can send it back

does anyone else have issues with switch boxes though?

Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

Hi
Had a auto hdmi switch that refused to change, decided hdmi was still live from V+ even when in stand by and no output. Switched to a manual box instead and that changes input ok but have push the button - how inconvient is that eh

The thing stopping me from doing this is some programs are labeled as HDMI only. I think this is only on some VOD movies but i guess it may become more widespread when (if?) we get more hd content.

Red face Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

i bought a two port manual switcher made by hq electronics for 9.99 off amazon. great piece of kit , had no probs with it and no picture degradation at all . beware of expensive imitations . some of the prices of these things are ludicrous , profiteering as usual . unless you are disabled or two miles from your tele you dont need a remote controlled powered one .

you're quite right, as the majority of the time i'm turning on the dvd player then wanging a disc in, so have to be there in person, but i was hoping the auto switcher would work for two reasons...

i guess most devices will be hdmi for the near future, so was looking to be compatible with next freeview box/ games console/ media player/ holographic trouser simulator (ok maybe not that one)

and, more importantly

Mrs Fishybob hates remote controls, and me getting another would not go down well. plus i'd have to listen to the moans about all the hassle it is to watch a dvd, when before (with good old scart) she could just fling a dvd in and the telly would switch over. the fact that its better quality is no argument as she would regularly watch our old sky box through the RF feed, not realising it was any different!

Do yourself a favour... get a Harmony remote. They are ace. I really don't think I could manage my system anymore without it!!!

Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

ok so with a harmony remote and a IR controlled HDMI switcher you could have a say "power up dvd" button that also switches the hdmi input. or something like that? harmony 525 seems a good price on amazon at present at £35. hmmm

Re: V+ and HDMI switch boxes

I have an 875 (it was a bit dearer), but it's great to use. When you initially program it, you create "activities"; like "watch PVR" or "Watch DVD"... each of these has the appropriate devices associated - together with any setup options you require (i.e. selecting the appropriate channel on the TV and input on the amp). The main remote buttons then control the appropriate playback or tuning device. Piece of proverbial p!ss.
