HD V+ issues

Hello Guys,

Ive recently had V+ installed and just got a HD ready tv (technosonic 32")

Through my Xbox I can happily set it at 1080i and displays lovely, really impressed with it.

When it comes to the V+ box, I can set it at 780 wide, but not 1080 or 1080 wide, it just displays horribly. Please see photos for what I mean.

I would really like to be able to try 1080 wide as on the Xbox it made a hugh difference from 780.

Anyone got any ideas for what to do?

First is 780 wide.

set to 1080 wide, half the picture is missing (does the same on 1080 normal)

If your TV is only 32" it's incredibly unlikely it can display 1920x1080. It may accept a 1080 input and downscale it (probably badly), but you'd do far better to set your 360 and V+ to 720p.

Re: HD V+ issues

That is also what I thought, but 780 on the xbox does look a lot worse then 1080, which is why i want to be able to try the V+ box at it.

Re: HD V+ issues

Your links don't work...

I have a 32" LCD and can get my V+ to display in 1080i with out any problems. Same with 720 wide

Re: HD V+ issues

Hmm that is strange. I don't know what the problem could be, as the 360 works ok in 1080i. I see it is a technosonic, the TV that Woolies were selling last year. Check out this thread on AV forums and you might get the answers you are looking for

Re: HD V+ issues

As I mentioned, mine displays in 1080 without any issues. It might be something to do with the TV, however as you mentioned it works with your 360 at 1080.

If you ask on there you might get an answer.

Re: HD V+ issues

The screenshot shows the "Alert: Display change" box. Did you actually press the Text button? I'm wondering whether the TV is getting its inputs muddled, and isn't really in HDMI mode at all.

Re: HD V+ issues

Spiderplant, your post made me think the TV might be doing that so I did the following! Thank you for the train of thought!

I thought I would mess about with the settings a bit more and managed to get it working.

It looks as if the TV does some sort of auto sensing on the HDMI port, but doesn't change when you change from 780 to 1080.

What I did was on the v+ select 1080, but not press the OK to test the signal, then changed the TV to AV1. I then pressed OK to test the 1080, then changed the TV to be in HDMI, and it showed it perfectly.

I must agree, the menu looks worse, but after changing a few of the tv settings, the normal tv programmes do look better.

Band of Brothers in HD looks amazing!!!

Re: HD V+ issues

There is a slight ghosting of the menu's on a V+ when it's set to 1080 or 1080 wide - I think that's a "feature" of the V+ rather than something wrong at your end.

Mine does the same on 1080P capable Sony Bravia.
