Possible to watch V+ when Virgin Media down?

I lost ALL Virgin Media service (TV, Broadband, Phone) on Friday afternoon and never got it back until this morning - apparantly a fault affecting a lot of Edinburgh.

When I reset the v+ box it just stuck on the 'Please wait - powering up' flash screen with the little blue light flashing.

Is there any way I could have avoided starting up 'properly' so I could access my v+ recordings?

A few days ago I lost BB and TV (in Cambridge) for a couple of hours or so. During this time I watched an overnight cricket recording until services were restored.

So for me I didn’t require any incoming TV signal to be able to watch previously recorded programmes

You can watch recordings as long as you don't try to reboot. But it won't boot without a signal.

I can vouch for that. Unfortunately, the first thing most would do if the service goes is reboot.
