Using the "ir remote out" socket

I want to put my V+ box in a cupboard and use a remote IR device.

Is anyone using this socket which looks like a headphone jack..?

If so can anyone suggest where I might get the necessary equipment to be able to get the box into a cupboard and then use the socket to connect a remote device..?

I can't be the only one who doesn't want to look have to look at, or listen to the V+ box.

Does anyone know if this socket even works..?

Thanks

Re: Using the "ir remote out" socket

The socket isn't enabled. You'll need to use something like this or this. Don't forget to make sure the cupboard is well ventilated.

(I've not thought of this before, and it might be a non-starter, but maybe you could also use a fibre-optic bundle like one of these. Does anyone have one they could try?)

ps. Welcome to the forum!
