Question 5.1 Audio from V+ Box Problem

Hi everyone i'm having a problem with my 5.1 system, the problem being that the sound when played through the TV is fine but when sent to the Sony STR-DG510 via optical cable there is a slight delay which them makes sound out of sync with the pictures!! Not sure if this is a setting on the V+ (the hdmi overide is set to on) or the amp or that i'm using fibre optic. I assumed that this would be the best quality connection between the 2 although I can use the digital phono option. I also have my Xbox 360 connected to the amp via fibre optic and that seems fine. Any help would be greatly received

I have no problem with mine using the optical output , though I do turn the TV sound down to minimum when using the surround sound. Can't see any point in leaving the TV sound on whilst listening to the surround sound ... The surround sound speakers are much better than the TV speakers ... Also the surround sound time delays (to each speaker) is set up to a particular viewing distance so it sounds correct ... Possibly this contributes to your problem.

Hi no it's a LG plasma. I do turn the sound down on the TV but because its out of sync with the picture it gets very annoying think I might try it with the phono cable and also adjust the settings on the amp as suggested above

Its probably your amp that it causing the delay. I get a slight (almost un-noticable) delay through my amp. From a V+, V box or through my dvd player, via optical.

I am using a 32" Samsung LE32R74BD LCD TV and the surround sound is a Pioneer XV-DV313 ... I am using the optical connection and it works a treat.

There is a known problem with the optical out on some samsung lcd's which causes a delay in the sound.
However, this is solved by using the optical out direct from the V+ box.

Yup, I have a 40" 1080p sammy, but my optical sound out is taken from the V+ box to my Yamaha surround decoder....works perfectly well.

Sorry , I should have said that I use the optical output from the V+ box to the Surround Sound Amplifier and it works perfectly ... I haven't tried optical from the TV to the Pioneer ... There must be a better quality of sound when taking it optically straight from the V+ to the Surround Sound , rather than from the TV ...
