Re: Thinking of getting V+
That's a pretty good deal, virgin tend not to offer free installation these days. Glad I've had mine for a while, when it was still free.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
Firstly welcome to the site
You're going to have to help me here. How is it free installation if you are paying £50 for it?
Anyway as it's normally £150 (Currently £75 on offer) I'd say you are getting quite a good deal.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
Thanks m8, I was wandering if we could get free installation?
Or as post #2 says, have they stopped it now?
Thanks

Re: Thinking of getting V+
Nope, they started off saying £150,
Then £75
Then 60
Now its £50,
If thats the lowest you've seen then thats fine.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
As far as I know (and an employee would know better than me) you'll only get it cheaper if you're getting the vip pack or the ip (or whatever they're calling it : ) pack. Where the installation is £30 I think.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
I have been on the full pack for about 5 years now Broadband TV Phone and recently Mobile, just phoned up to enquire about the V+ after receiving a advert through the post, spoke to a very nice lady and they are going to wave the installation fee. I didn’t complain or moan it was purely an enquiry on the best deal they could do. Being installed next Tuesday.
Thumbs up Virgin, only trouble is im going to have to buy a new TV to make the most of it. :-)

Re: Thinking of getting V+
You could get it for £30, but thats only if your going onto the VIP or the XL plus package, which would end up costing you more in the long run, but you do get more for it

Re: Thinking of getting V+
I'm on retention package 5 because my broadband is still almost useless after about eight months. I got the V+ box today and it cost me £75. The whole installation took less than 15 min's. I'm not gonna moan 'cos from what I've been doing with it, it's a very good bit of kit. It was recording two stations for me while I was watching a third. A few presses of the buttons and I was watching the recorded stuff. Should have got this box ages ago. Also, whilst the box is not really yours to keep, paying the £75 should not be an issue. After all you have a multi HD recorder capable of many tricks, and it's always under warranty.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
IMO the £75 for V+ 'installation' (and e.g. the £5 monthly) is worthwhile, as it is a great PVR with upscaling/HD potential. I am biased, as I have enjoyed cable services for over 10 years.

Re: Thinking of getting V+
Yeah, I have had Cable and wireless, Nynex, NTL, Virgin what ever else there has been since day one. The hassle of getting a new TV, Broadband and Telephone provider has been the thing that's stopped me from leaving. After all I have put up with duff broadband for about 8-10 months. That apart, I like the services and Virgin as a company when it's all working. There's still a lot of work they need to do to get the Broadband and VOD up to speed, but if they ever get it right, it will be perfect.
