V+ surround sound?

I think I know the answer, but am I right in thinking V+ is the only platform that outputs Dolby Digital 5.1 via opticle? If so, is this on all stations that carry the signal?

I am thinking of changing from my Samsung STB to V+ for the sound difference.

Yes and no. The Samsung 2110 has a DD5.1-capable optical output, but currently only hi-def content carries 5.1, so this isn't accessible by the Samsung.

Hi,

You will only get Dolby Digital 5.1 on BBC HD . The DD5.1 is only broadcast on HD channels. I use the optical output to a Home Cinema system and only get Dolby Pro Logic II on the rest of the channels.

And HD On Demand content.

DD5.1 may be added to some channels in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the VMTV/UKTV ones

medicman is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: V+ surround sound?

BTW,

DD 5.1 is also carried on the HDMI connection not just the optical, you just have to enable (yes turn on) HDMI audio overide in the V+ menus.

Obviously this means you must have a surround sound amp with HDMI imput.

(To be honest, I havent got DD5.1 working on my optical output for some reason).
