Thanks for establishing that, Spiderplant.
With that length of time before your 'pause and rewind' function is turned off (well in excess of the saved buffer) then I would not expect people to be complaining - although, of course, they will.

Re: V+ Box - Energy Saving Mode?
A few days ago i kept hearing a power down noise, at the time i was transfereing wrestling tapes to dvd, but this noise was the same noise my dvd recorder makes when it goes into sleep mode, at the time i racked my brains trying figure out what or where the noise was coming from, at the time i didn't realise it came from the V+ when its on standby.
just glad my dvd recorder ain't on the blink.

Hi Spiderplant
Are you saying that all V+ boxes don't need to have a button pressed on the remote control every hour or so just to keep the rewind facility active ? ... A fixed 3 hours and 5 minutes would be great as most films are less than this in duration ... I have never timed the sleep facility myself ... Does this time vary depending on whether it is day or night-time ? ...
I don't like the idea of the disk stopping when it feels like it ... Personally I would like it only to sleep when I put it on Standby ... The three hours and five minutes that you quoted is a much more realistic time period before the disk stops though ...
Many Thanks
.

That's what I'm reliably informed, and I've checked a couple of boxes and it seems to be working correctly. It makes no difference what time of day it is.

I can sympathise, but as I mentioned before, most people never put their box into standby.

Re: V+ Box - Energy Saving Mode?
only recently has my v+ box been going into 'energy saving mode', it's driving me mad as i thought you could rewind back 90 mins but last week i'd missed the beginning of corrie & tried to rewind to the beginning & it wouldn't let me & i'd had it on itv1 since emmerdale started. yes, mine keeps booting up at strange times too. i sent virgin media several emails about the 'energy saving mode' & they've never got back to me except with the bog standard no-reply email.
from the looks of other customers all i need to do is press the volume or other button [except channel of course] or put it in delay tv for a second, is this right?
thanks
kathy

Yes that's right.
Why can't this be a option for users in settings?
Do you want to enable energy saving mode Yes/No
