Question Aspect ratio switching (V+ 1080i through HDMI)

I have my V+ box connected using HDMI (through an Onkyo TX-SR705 amp) to my Philips TV (1080i/p).

The problem I have is that all the pictures are shown by the TV fullscreen. This means that 4:3 material is stretched. Y-e-u-c-h! Each time, when switching to a channel displaying pictures in 4:3, I have to manually change the aspect ratio on the TV. Then of course, when going back I have to change it again.

If I use the internal tuner on the TV the set automatically detects the source material format and switches appropriately.

Similarly, when I had the old STB connected via SCART to my old TV, the set again automatically switched to the correct format.

Is there a setting somewhere on the V+ to enable it to tell the TV what the real source format is? Or is there another trick?

Thanks!

Re: Aspect ratio switching (V+ 1080i through HDMI)

Hi, bare in mind I don't use a V+ but I seem to remember from reading in this forum of there being a 720 and/or maybe 1080 wide setting. Sounds like you have this inadvertently selected?
