V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
I have been using Sky + for a few years but have been cheesed off with the number of times the box has locked up. So decided to change over to Virgin V+ which was installed today. So far I'm not happy - I'm unable to access On Demand services and have been told by their help desk that it can take up to 72 hours to sort out - Not a particularly good start.
Also I cannot get it to connect to my Panasonic DVD Recorder.
Anyway will try and get the DVD connection sorted in the morning - The wife wants to watch TV tonight and is getting a bit peeved with me keep fiddling with all the connections.

Re: V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
Mine took a good couple of days of waiting before I recalled CS (after being to wait for 72 hours originally too) and within half an hour everything was working, after a re-sent box hit I presume.
Wait it out or recall them everyday till u get it fixed, just remember, Good things come to he who waits.
The extra box, (normal virgin box), took over a week to get full access to the on demand and extra channels, and fix a tune issue all by itself bless it.

Just keep trying till you get through to a competent British person, they can fix this kind of thing in 5 minutes. It just sounds like they haven't added the correct services to the correct box (i.e. BBC HD was listed on my V box, but not on my V+ box until this got sorted).

Re: V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
Great News, switched box on next morning, and all services working. Either VM got their finger out and sorted it straight away or it was just a glitch. Anyway very happy now or would be if I could get my DVD recorder to record correctly. Still, another challenge for today.

Re: V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
I take it you want to use the DVD recorder to record something already previously recorded on the V+ HDD?
Otherwise use the V+ record function. The sheer convenience of just pressing the red record button on the EPG programme list for anything current or future I find really convenient. The kids love it as 74% of our recordings are children programmes they don’t want to miss!
Please check other threads on connecting DVD recorders to the V+ on the V+ thread here, links to a couple are below, there is also a 3rd thread with some pictures on connections but I cannot find it right now, should be one of the V+ installation query threads.

Re: V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
Thanks for the response, - yes I wish to copy from V+ to DVD, but I think I have managed it. I have used the EXT LINK function on my DVD recorder and now when I press the copy button on the V+ it switches on the DVD recorder and then switches itself off when the recording has finished.
So a bit of a result.

All up and running then! You may also want to read this thread on the new software update on the V+ box, which has a number of bug fixes in place. That should tell you everything you need to know for now!

Re: V+ Box Fitted today - not working 100%
Just a point - EXT LINK normally works by looking for a signal and recording when it sees one. At the moment, the VCR SCART is only active when you use the 'Copy' function. However, it used to be active all the time and if the software update linked above takes place it will be again in the future. So you'll probably lose this neat little feature.
