Re: V+ installation checklist ???

Simple really, dont let the engineer leave before you see it working and has done a quick demo. (a short demo is all that needed as its pretty easy to use and really you just need to spend a bit of time playing with the remote and finding your way around)
When they did mine they they also set up the tv as well which was good as i hadnt dont a very good job on the new hdtv.
I was going to mention that men dont read manuals but then i noticed your a woman! lol
I didnt even get a manual but its not that help anyway.

There's some tips in here, and a link to another post with some further tips.

Hope this helps!

I had the following list , but the boys went through most of it without being asked , though I did show them my list.

Check no flashing light on the front of the V+ box.
Check ''On Demand'' Works ... Won't work if light is flashing.
Check that you can pause live TV.
Check that V+ button on remote brings up a menu.
Check that the Volume buttons on remote are working OK.
Check ''Red Button'' works.
Check full channel line-up.
Check HD picture via the HDMI cable (in my case on 720p).
Check that your computer modem is working OK.
Check that the repositioned old box has no flashing light.
Check full channel line-up on repositioned box.

I was also shown how to record what I was watching , also how to record future programs from off the menu ... They didn't have a HDMI cable but came back the next day with one and put it in and showed me the HD picture ... Wonderful service from these boys .... They didn't even have time for tea and biscuits.

Mine was all up and running within half an hour though they didn't have to put in any extra wiring as the old box went into the computer room ... They used a splitter box off the feed to the modem to feed the repositioned box ... If you need extra wiring installed it would be better if the new V+ box was installed first to allow for the hits to be sent ... Virgin will be very busy now as there is a bit of a rush with people wanting V+ in before Xmas.

Good Luck and enjoy the new box , but be prepared for a longer delay when changing channels on the V+.

Re: V+ installation checklist ???

Well, I wish you a better time than I had a few days ago. The installer turned up with no remote, no HDMI cable and no instruction book. When he left we found we had no terrestial channels and no freeview. He had disconected the rf cable and left them hanging behind the tv. He had also not reconnected our dvd player. The reinstallation of the old box wasn`t too successful either because the supplied scart cable was too short to actually have the tv facing into the room, not at the wall, despite the stb being next too and a little below the tv.
I spent all afternoon being redirected to seven different people trying to get a remote and was eventually promised that one would be sent round the following day and that an engineer would come out the day after. No one turned up with the remote but the "engineer" came as promised. He luckily had a spare remote but couldn`t tell me how to archive recorded programs onto my dvd but I eventually found this on the V+ extras menu. Still can`t get it to work, tho. He also couldn`t get the volume control to work. Got that information from this forum.
He was also rude. I wasn`t that impressed with HD. Still can`t see the difference, and he said cheap tv`s didn`t show it off well. My set`s a 2 month old Samsung 1080 jobbie costing over a grand and apparently the one they use in their video tutorials.
I still don`t have an instruction book.
On the plus side, the recording capabilities of the box are really nice and if you get a good installation you should be happy.
