Recording Times
I set my V+ box to record the EastEnders omnibus on BBC1 Scotland and the time set on my Virgin service was wrong. It was 15 minutes too early, so 15 was missed at the end.
Has anybody else experience this problem with any other programmes on Virgin?

Re: Recording Times
We have loads of programme that we've missed the end. We could set the box to extend the rec time but this is no good if you have other programmes that follows

Re: Recording Times
My V+ recording is usually spot on. It sometimes missed the beginning of a programme but very rarely as those are usually adverts.
But, surely missing 15 minutes of EastEnders is a good thing?

Re: Recording Times
are virgin ever going to sort this out. When I record 2 consecutive programmes on the same Chanel I get a 5 minutes added onto end of first recording. And missed first minute of 2nd recording . Can they not get program delivery control to record all of the program instead of us having to extend our recordings manually

Re: Recording Times
It would be good if there was programme control. When Kill Bill vol 2 was on recently I missed the end because it started 30 mins late. It's on again in January though

Why don't you record it manually on one tuner ... You can tell it when to start and when to stop and you can add as much padding as you feel like ... You will still have the other tuner available if you want to record something else.

I used my Daewoo Freeview VHS recorder and it was great ... I only bought the V+ box 'cos the Daewoo died ... I paid the £75 installation fee for the V+ which was cheaper than a replacement Freeview VCR and no increase in monthly payments ...
I was only suggesting the manual recording as it would avoid losing those few minutes between your consecutive programs on the same channel ... You could try giving the second recording a higher priority than the first , then you shouldn't lose anything from the beginning of the second program ...

Re: Recording Times
No need for the bold font face type please - it's almost as bad etiquette as typing in capitals.

I didn't realise that this act (Writing in bold) would be classed as a breach of editorial or literary etiquette ... I used it for the ''reply'' to stand out from the ''quote'' ... I suppose that a change of font or a change in font size would be equally unacceptable in case people thought that the reply was more important than the quote (or vice-versa) ... You will also have noted that I always use three full-stops between sentences ... Normally I would use spaces , but Forums only seem to allow one space after the punctuation marks ... Similarly I would normally leave an extra space after commas which I find particularly useful to illustrate a ''clause in parenthesis'' etc ... In the Forums I now also add a space before the puntuation mark ... I assume that there is a set of editorial guidelines available to those who , like myself , unknowingly transgress ... Doesn't freedom of choice or expression come into the writing as it does in freedom of viewpoint ... After all , I never complain about others using very loosly hidden expletives such as ''B----r'' or ''F---'' which appear on occasions in Forums ... Also you will note that I do not get involved in arguments or any ''slagging off'' of other contributors , as is the case with a few others , also none of my posts have yet been deleted ... Are you telling me categorically that I can not use bold font face , in this context , in my posts ? ... I think it would be better to ban pseudo-expletives and the slagging off of contributors instead as these are plainly just bad manners.

I must admit, your writing in bold was getting to me also.
It is more difficult to read and also not necessary.
In replying on fora, I feel that we should all just write in English.
No text speak, just English.
Bold has a place - to emphasise a word or phrase.
Just MHO (sorry, my humble opinion).

Would it have been easier for you to read if it was in Bold ?

I think the problem is, your v+ is set to record for an extra say 5 minutes at the end of the program just incase it over-runs etc.
If your recording 2 programs say on BBC1 after each other, it will record the end of the first program and then use the other tuner to record the start of the next program.
If you are recording 2 programs at the same time, when it comes to the next program there arnt any tuners left as they are both being used, so will start as soon as the first one finishes.
The only solution i see is for VM to bring out a new box with more tuners (which i see as unlikely) or you change the v+ to stop recording as soon as the program is finished, but you could lose the end of a program if it over-runs.
