Almost a Month Before V+ Install!
HI
My first post, so go easy please!
I have just got off the phone from VM after paying my £75 to get a V+ box. The only draw back is that the first install date they could give me was 13/01/08! Does anyone have any ideas on how to get bumped up the queue? I'd love to have it for Xmas, but I suppose that's the problem, everyone wants it before Xmas!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
PS: I just had a thought, I presume they have already charged my £75. SO I also loose a months interest!

Re: Almost a Month Before V+ Install!
Unfortunately you have no chance.
Anyone who phoned up before 12th December definately got it before Christmas (as per the adverts). In some areas they have even been installing on Sundays to make sure those who ordered before the 12th got installed before Christmas
Any order after the 12th is as per normal, i.e. first avaliable
If you gave them card details then yes, you have already been charged the £75. If they didn't, no you haven't

Re: Almost a Month Before V+ Install!
Not true, I called before Dec 12th and they told me install on Jan 3rd.
So I told them I wasn't paying my £75 then.
They raised a complaint for me and said I would hear back in 48 hours.
Yeah right.
Phone up and make a complaint- you never know. It seems to me customer services always say one thing, and they are definite and it is set in stone etc, then retentions say something completely different...

Even Rententions can't get you an appoinment any earlyer, If there no techs avalible then there isn't any avalible. The best you would get is to be put on a list for any cancelations that should happen.

Re: Almost a Month Before V+ Install!
The V+ install is a victim of it's own success, it's that much better than the standard STB that so many customers covet it, however the install price had put people off, but that's been lowered increasing demand. Some areas just don't have the installers to go round.

Very true, but retentions can, it would seem, get people an install for as little as £25...

i got "lucky" and had it installed on wednesday morning, the last slpt this year, that was after ringing them on friday.
it all arrived , the v+ box was faulty, and no one seems to want to sort it!
and no hdmi cable that i was promised!

I think it's a local issue. I'm in Hemel Hempstead. Your engineers are more in demand than where I am. I ordered the V+ box installation on the 7th December and it was booked and installed for the 18th. A friend in Wakefield ordered his installation on I think the 4th or 5th and his booked date was I think the 20th, so he booked earlier but my installation was quicker.
I have to say that so far I'm really pleased. One thing I'd like to see fixed is the second class red button support - in fact even on BBC1 it often doesn't work at all.

I told the engineer (the truth) that I was promised a free HDMI cable, so he said 'OK' and produced one. Then one arrived in the post - though it had a covering letter referring to some fault that they apologised for !
The second cable will come in handy as the family is getting a HDMI DVD recorder for Christmas (our present one is SCART only) and there is no HDMI cable in the box

I hope we have as much luck, Mrs Gaz came home with an 'HD ready' tv, today, which now makes a v+box for downstairs viable, I'll phone on Monday & see what they can do, thanks for your feedback
<edit> We already have 2 boxes, the v+ will replace the downstairs one, the ordinary vbox upstairs, plugged into my pc, will not change, at the moment
