V+ Xmas offer, not actually an offer you, sir.. :-\
Hi All,
New to the forum, so I hope this is in the right place, if not please can a mod move it to where it should be.
I received a direct mail pack with the V+ installation for half price offer in it. Addressed directly to me. On the offer letter and the enclosed small print it makes no mention anywhere that this is not combinable with other offers.
However, I call up today to accept and I am told "Because you have the 3 for £30(*) you already have a TV L to XL upgrade, therefore this offer is not open to you."
Well that's great.. Send me a personally addressed offer, and then tell me to go get... If they could point out anywhere on the offer letter where it said 'additional terms apply' or 'not in conjunction with other offers' well that would be fine.. but it doesn't, not even in the small print.
(*)3 for £30 was bumped up to 3 for £35 by faster internet and this was actually costing me £37 until a very helpful guy at Customer Services solved this for me today
I'm really annoyed.. do i just have to suck it up? Or has anyone been able to get this offer while on a bundle with TV XL from L?

The following bundle statement from the web site offer ( http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...ers/vplus.html) is your catch but they really should have had this stated in the direct mail as well. As a current customer you need to add a service to get the £75 offer, it doesn't have to be XL TV according to what is said below.
The text on the web site today doesn't state the 3 for £30 bundle being excluded although I have heard this several times. One trick I would recommend therefore is to buy it online for which you will need your account number and your password, go through all the options selecting the option to keep your current service then under TV Extras select the V+ service add-on. The issue then is whether you ordered at £75 as I am not sure it actually states then when you go through the order.
Bundles: Available to new customers and existing customers taking an additional cable service (subject to status and credit checks).

Hi thanks for the reply.
I don't see anywhere on the bundle T&C that you are excluded from any offers in the future.
I am an existing customer, who recieved a direct mail offer to upgrade, with no special terms or strings attached, and they just refuse it.
I tried to do it online, but the installation charge is listed as £150 for V+ when you do it this way.. If you can see a £75 install charge could you point it out to me? I must have missed that section or entered that page without applying the offer

I ordered online and only sorted the price out when I rang them to sort out the installation date so a bit of a gamble to take but worked for me. You donlt actually pay when you place the order online so if you are told £150 later simply cancel the order (unless you're stuck with a cancellation clause - never checked myself!) .
I would also wait and see what other people post here, there are a few other routes into VM which may help. If I had received a direct mail offering the half price V+ without stating any conditions like the bundle yuo're on, then you should be entitled to the price in my view.

if you are on the 3 for £30 bundle and you pay for XL TV i.e. £39 per month than you would be able to get the V+ half price offer.
Anyone on a free upgrade to XL TV, i.e. paying £30 per month, cannot.
Reasoning behind it is you are already getting a discount from the TV service
If you had the standard 3 for £30 and paid for the V+ install at half price and then paid £5 per month for the V+ service, over 12 months you would pay £135 for the V+ (and get TV L channels)
If you had the standard 3 for £30 and paid for the V+ install at half price and the upgraded to XL TV and £9 per month (V+ service included), over 12 months you would pay £183 for the V+ (and get TV XL channels)
If you have the 3 for £30 with the Free upgrade to XL and pay £150 for the V+, over the 12 months you pay £150!
So anyone on XL upgrade (depending on when they got the upgrade) is actually saving themselves £33

I see what you're saying, but there's a couple points to note:
1.) My contract with Virgin was negotiated with one of their door-knockers.. I pay £35 for 4Mb, TV XL & Phone.. how they have calculated that isn't my problem (well.. it is, but you see where i'm coming from), and;
2.) I recieved a letter "Dear Mr. OttoMH..." which contained the offer. They sent this to me while knowing full well the terms of my agreement, plus at no point in the terms and conditions does it say that it is not combinable with the bundle discounts, nor does it say that there are additional terms or say where this clause is!!
I have always been paying 3 for £35.. so I don't really see the 'discount' as a bonus - that was what the deal was when i signed up.

I have Phone, L TV and L Broadband, and have been told by VM that I can have V+ for £75, plus £5 a month to keep old box (hence I have an additional service).
See the " Has anyone heard this" thread.

I think you will find that the mailshot is a standard letter to which the printer adds individual names...
I had the same one...and already have V+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Admittedly a lazy option, it saves checking individual accounts......

if you already have all 3 services you don't have to take out a new service to get the V+ half price, you can get the offer, just not be on an TV offer already (ie upgrade to XL or free second stb)

I'm on the 3 for £30 offer for life so when I phoned up this morning I first wanted to make sure that this would not change. I was assured that it would not and better than that as I was just replacing my old box I would get the new V+ box for the £75 installation and no change to my monthly charge. I'd expected to pay another £5 per month.
Have to say that the guy on the other end was great, sounded like he was from the midlands - he went to double check that what he said was true and came back and confirmed it. Due to install 3rd Jan.

I have been a cable customer for over ten years and have had the top broadband deal for several years, plus two phone lines and the XL TV package. Virgin messed up the billing for two months and I was over charged. At the same time I heard about one of the V+ offers, though I have not been mailed the offer. While I was sorting out the billing problem, I negotiated a V+ installation, free relocation of the old Samsung box, free HDMI cable (they sent me two in the end) and a replacement broadband modem. The V+ box was £75 one off, I cant remember if I was charged an installation fee, but if I was, it was insignificant. But the important thing is that I now have V+, XL TV, XL BB, a second cable box and two phone lines, plus voice mail, for roughly £55 a month.
It seems deals can be negotiated if you speak to the right person on the end of the phone.

Yes I have just booked mine for delivery 02/08 and it went like this. The offer to you is £75 pay now and because you were upgraded to XL pack we also charge you £9 per month as well.
Everybody seems to be getting dif stories. Is this because they want to make as much money as possible and change the rules as they progress.
