V+ Woes

2 to 3 weeks ago we had major picture break up and popping on all freeview channels, Sky channels and premium channels all ok. 1 week later v+ dies completely. 4 days later V+ is swapped out while I am at work. Wife was talking to the engineer who enquired how many V+ boxes we had had. This is our 5th!! Basically the engineer said if it giving you this much trouble, get rid of it and get sky HD!

Anyway he installed the new box and on his way out of the door, the engineer said to my wife as he left, "give it half hour and the picture will come on". 6 hours later I get home from work, and nothing. Knowing some of the engineers that we have had in the past, I said I bet he hasnt set it up for HDMI output. True enough he hadn't. Set it up for HDMI and great all working.

Wrong, not working, still exactly the same issue. Get straight on the phone to India (another story) and told the engineer will be back in half an hour. Wait in all night and no engineer. Get on the phone to CS / faults, and told to wait 48 hours for a call back. Guess what, no call back.

Phone again tonight, speak to India and have to wait another 48 hours for yet another call back. I wont hold my breath.

This is a shambles. I have since brought a freeview box so we can watch terrestrial tv. I am within the contract period so I cannot cancel, and to be honest, have been more than happy with the service up till now.

Now the questions:
Has any one else had the same V+ problems and if so, how was it resolved?
Why would it only affect the freeview channels and not the premium channels?
Can I cancel if they can't provide the service I am signed up for?

Somebody help!

Cheers

Jim

Yes I reckon you can cancel. You have given VM a more than fair crack of the whip and they have been found to be spectacularly useless.

I feel you have a case for compensation at least for the loss of service that all these breakdowns must have ineveitably caused not to mention the annoyance and inconvenience.

Anyway I feel your last engineer has given you the best advice you are going to get.

I too swapped to sky+ recently and can honestly say it is the best thing I have done TV wise.

Good Luck to you with whatever course of action you choose to take.
