Expanding the storage space on V+ box
Now that HD is being enjoyed, the V+ storage space shrinks alarmingly. Is there any way of adding external storage? Sockets at the back marked 'USB', 'SATA' and 'Ethernet' look as though they might do this, but can anyone say how to implement it?

Re: Expanding the storage space on V+ box
They have disabled all those on the back on purpose, to stop us doing just that thing.
A statement came out last week stating Virgin believe the space is enough!
Shocking!

There isnt much HD content avalible now anyway. Im sure that in time when it becomes more avalible they will enable the eSATA and USB ports

You really do live in cloud cuckoo land if you think they will. VM never enabled the usb ports or the ir blaster ports on their other Settops in all the years they have been using them, Do you honestly think they give a hoot about enabling the ports on the V+, If they were that forward thinking they would have gone for the Mpeg4 box with all of it's nice extras instead of a box that is already out of date ????????. VM have a bigger fish to fry next year in trying to get 50 meg working in there bigger areas like Manchester, Liverpool and London and that will cost lots and lots of money that will NOT be spent on the TV. They have already said that the TV will be put on the back burner next year so they can expand their broadband.
I also do not expect ANY extra linear HD next year ether. The only extra HD will be vod and that's that due to VM not have the equipment to trans-code from SKY to VM and then to Mpeg2.

afaik one of the scart sockets will allow you to archive files to an external recorder - capture to the medium of your choice
