Depends on what you are talking about. 1080p v 720p or 1080i v 720p. If its 1080i, then you most likely see much of a difference. If its 1080p and your not seeing a difference you are either not viewing it from the correct distance, have the wrong setup, not viewing a 1080p source or have an extremly crap 1080p TV. That or its time to get the eyes tested.

1080p is not terrible at all. Most likely reason you think it is, is because you viewed it wrong or something. If 1080p is better than 720p and you say 1080p is terrible then what is 720p?

As you have a 32" TV, I would assume it does not actually support 1080p.
A 32" TV will in all likelihood have a 1366x768 resolution & support 720p & 1080i.
The V+ box can not output in 1080p anyway - "only" 720p & 1080i (which doesn't matter, as there's no actual 1080p broadcast content anyway).
1080p is quite an improvement on 720p & 1080i, but requires a larger screen than 32", & the correct viewing distance, to actually be able to tell.

It doesnt require a larger screen as there is a 1080p 32" due out/out now. All thought you would have to be sitting quite close to it, but could be ideal for bedrooms.

Have a read of:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080i
... in particular...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p#720p_versus_1080i
[And for 1080i vs 1080p, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080i#1080i_vs_1080p]
As I said before, the V+ box supports 720p & 1080i.

Ta. Good to know.
Means I could actually go for 1080p when I eventually upgrade my current 720p/1080i TV.
(small lounge! Can't get any bigger than a 32" in it. Heh, plus the really big ones are still horrendously priced IMO)

Re: 1080/720
Dont forget that if you are going to get a 32" 1080p TV then you will have to sit pretty close to it, I think its 2/3 - 4ft away with 37" being 4/5 - 6ft away.

Hmm. My lounge is small, but not that small! I'll stick with my current one then...

Re: 1080/720
Thanks for the links to the wikipedia articles comparing each of them.
It makes it a lot clearer.
I guess one thing is that if you have a 1080p TV and your sources don't output anywhere near that then you will have a more pixilated picture, whilst if there is HD upscaling or better output going into the TV then you'l have a better picture.

Re: 1080/720
Somebody else said this in another thread recently and its well worth repeating.
If you set the STB to output 1080i, but your screen is only capable of displaying 720p then for SD programming in particular, the STB is having to upconvert to 1080i, and then your screen has to downconvert to 720p. Each conversion will impact picture quality. If your screen is 720p then set the STB to 720p, screen is 1080 (i or p) then set STB to 1080i.
To qualify as HD Ready, the screen doesn't even have to have a resolution of 1280x720, the spec only says it has to have at least 720lines, the horizontal resolution can be lower and still the screen is classed as HD Ready.

Re: 1080/720
I have my V+ on 1080(i) and the quality is great. The old problem with the menus looking blurred on 1080 seem to have been sorted out now as well I have noticed.
