Question v+ and Tivo?

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum, or the question has already been answered elsewhere. Did a search but couldn't find anything.

Had v+ installed today. Love certain aspects of it, but missing Tivo already.

I haven't attacked 'wire city' behind everything just yet. Thought I'd get advice first. Not getting any channels on Tivo anymore, though I can watch programmes that I have tivo'd pre-v+

Ideally, I would like to use Tivo for my general recordings and V+ for HD and if I wish to record more than one programme.

1) Is this possible?
2) How?

I'm not very conversant with technical terms I'm afraid. Need an idiots guide

Many thanks for any help

Re: v+ and Tivo?

hi
tivo is far better as u have pointed out. with the ability to select the programmes by name to record. Ihowever you have to loose picture quality to use ur tivo. have my tivo in the bedroom and the v+ in the lounge. but miss the tivo all the time when watching on big tv.

you will only be able to us a single scart out from v+ into tivo and tivo to your tv - not hdmi and hi dev im afraid. also tivo converts the image before it outputs to the tv, whereas v+ outputs the raw image and the highest quality. So if you have a big tv the quality difference will be noticable and on large areas of a single colour you might see blocking.

can't run v+ to tivo and v+ to tv at same time unless you split the scart output before the tivo. Can't run v+ scart and V+ hdmi at same time.

so simple answer is...
v+ out via scart to tivo
tivo out via scart to tv

tivo should be set up if using already
v+ needs to set display to scart out - rgb (composite will be poor quality and bleed colours)

hope this helps

sorry second half of your question...
because you have the ir from tivo controlling the v box, what you view on tv is what you record using tivo.

if you then use the v+ control to record stuff, this will be in the background and you can then play it back through the tivo box reguardless of the channel selected on tivo.
