Re: Component out not supported?

The new tele worked correctly with the V+ box on both component and HDMI so the V+ box isn't broken. Glad I didn't get shirty with VM about a box swap!
So it seems my 50" Pioneer is not compatible with V+ using component but is compatible with a PS3. I didn't realise there are different flavours of component. I've never heard of a switch for component to (another type of) component but that's what I need. I was considering a HDMI to component switch box but now I fear it may not be compatible.
I guess I'm stuck with SD unless there's a 'component guru' out there with a solution?

Ask Pioneer. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Component out not supported?

Well, 'component' is the connection, there are a range of signals that can be passed over it.

It sounds like the PS3 is outputting 720p @ 60hz (which the TV is happy with) and the V+ box kicks out 720p @ 50hz (which the TV doesn't like). Is there a list of supported modes at the back of the TV's manual?

I think you've hit the nail on the head here. Probably the 50Hz vs 60 Hz thing.
I can't find any documentation saying how many Hz the tele accepts - however I've not seen documentation that the V+ box only outputs 50Hz either. I believe newer teles which are 'HD ready' accept either 50 or 60 Hz.
The only clue I've got is the acceptible range for PC Input which is 56-85Hz i.e. all greater than 50 Hz. The link on Pioneer's website with 'supported signals' doesn't work and I've had enough searching about now.
I'll just have to accept my tele is incompatible and settle down watching SD.
Thanks for your help everyone.
