Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
Again, Im looking at this option.
Ive got a DVI connection:
However, my manual says I have a DVI-D connection. After research, DVI-I is compatable with DVI-D (DVI-I is Analogue and Digital) leads, one of which I am looking at here:
eBay HDMI Lead
One way or another, I want to get one of those DVI to HDMI leads to use with the V+.
Any recommendations or reviews?
I know these DVIs dont carry Sound, but I think I can sort that with a Subwoofer I have.
Goodmans GTV42P4 is the model.

The v+ has an audio override which allows connection via optical to an amp
incidentially I have been looking at amps recently (proper surround ones) and the cheapest I found that switches hdmi (of good enough quality)is in the 300 quid region and the best on a budget is a sony http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...SONY-STRDA1200

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
Ouch!
Would it not just be possible to stick to the old red and white leads into a DVD/Sub combo?

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
Well, what does the V+ actually support?
I hear it doesnt support Dolby 5.1, but the sound is decent on what I use now, which is simply scart and the copper wire speakers.

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
just make sure the TV is really HD .
I had a goodmans from makro last year and it said HD ready on the box, screen etc but it was DVI-i. It came with a HDMI to DVI lead which worked fine with the v+ box incl HD content.
BUT , i just bought a phillips dvd surround sound system which outputs ALL content with HDCP encryption - the type that sky , virgin etc are to start using . When i hooked it up to TV via the hdmi to dvi lead i got NOTHING. blank. HD ready logo requires HDCP to be included but i found out from Goodmans was that the DVI socket wasnt HDCP compliant but would carry a unencrypted HD signal !!!.
With 2 days to go to year warranty and no receipt i camped in the local Makro store until i got a refund "not fit for purpose","false advertising of HD ready").
Got a full refund and bought a 32" polaroid with twin HDMI's and bingo DVD player plays fine all disks.!!

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
Wow! Excellent on the refund... its just that mine is really big.
I have been looking at new TVs, and if I can get 400 for this 42" Non HD TV, Id be laughing.
The one Im looking at is 37" HD Techwood from TJ Hughes. £450. Problem there is, no PIP!

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
mm the polaroid i settled for has pip But you cannot use pip between 2 hdmi sources so got the dvd home cinema got the v+ box and cant pip them . ah well least can see the dvd picture now.
best laugh was goodmans finally emailed me and had read my page long rant about dvi-i not being hdcp compliant on most dvi units and all i got was...press AV on the remote to get to the dvi input and there the picture will be... what really i hadnt thought of that ! morons.

Re: Dvi-d/dvi-i/hdmi
Well, I have tried a Dvi-d adapter, which flickers the picture for a second, then a black screen with a fully accessable epg. Im pretty gutted, actually, i know its not hdtv but its definitly an improvement on sd from the flicker i have seen.
