However, at present my ps3 uses the hdmi connection on my sony bravia. How will i now connect my ps3 to my tv? do i need to buy an hdmi extension, if such things exist ?

also are channels upscaled on the v+ box ?

I expect you can pick them up cheap by shopping round. But I beleive that because it is fairly "popular" technology at the moment they have raised prices. Like it was when scart first came out..

Do you not have a component video connection on the TV? The V+ has the three component out sockets and you can pick up a suitable lead off eBay for less than a tenner. Obviously the PS3 does component out too and a suitable lead is a similar price. I know that HDMI should give you a better picture but....

As for upscaling, yes the V+ does upscale and on most channels does a decent job. I've found however, on the lower bandwidth channels (like Animal Planet, Discovery channels etc), the upscaling is very pixelly. If I switch the V+ back to scart and let my TV (Sony Bravia too) do the upscalling, it looks much, much better. Maybe this is something they will fix in future software updates?

They will supply an HDMI lead if you ask. Apparently it's best to request when you book your appointment but the engineer that did ours just brought one anyway and left it for me to setup. Not sure if they will supply component cables.

I don't think they'll supply an HDMI switch box though!
