Red Button Issues - backdoor fix for SKY Movies

I'm not sure if this has been posted already and apologies if it has but here is a workaround for SKY Movies and the national Red Button/Interactive issues that are occuring.

If like me you are getting fed up with wanting to watch the occasional movie to which you subscribe to but cannot due to the red button just doing nothing and are using one of the Silver TVDrive boxes then read on:

  1. Select the movie channel and movie you want to view
  2. Press the " TV " button so that the EPG comes on and stays on
  3. Now Record the film you want to view by pressing the " Record " button
  4. Press the " TV " button again so that the EPG goes off
  5. Goto to TVDrive and select Recordings
  6. Select the movie that you are recording and press the OK button
  7. You'll be asked to enter you PIN #
  8. Now you can watch the movie

I gotta give huge props to a fella called Bob ( ) in CS who put me on to this. He was like a breath of fresh air and the first person I've spoken to in CS in over 3 or 4 months that seemed to know what they were doing and was prepared to help the customer by going that extra mile. I mentioned to him that I could tell he'd been doing his job for some time due to his excellent telephone manner, his willingness and apathetic approach to assisting me. Bob BTW has been doing his job for over 5 years and it showed!!!

So we have proof that not all CS operatives are losses and I don't doubt that there are some very good engineers out there too. It's just a shame that it's becoming the standard for VM staff on the ground to be the opposite.

If you're interested in having a good read on other experiences of mine and others please check out this link:
