Trying to get V+

For the most part I have had good service from Virgin CS, but not today.
I rang up to see about getting a V+ box and was informed that if I didn't want to keep my samsung then it would cost £75 instalation and £10 per month - no surprise there. If I wanted to keep the samsung then it would cost £25 instalation and still £10 per month (don't really want a second box as I have no use for it). Seemed odd that if I had two boxes the instalation was cheaper but the rental increase would be the same. Queried this with Indian call centre lady and she said she would put me through to sales. Unfortunately got cut off but rang again and asked to be put through, but sent to the wrong department. Forwarded to right department and the above conditions confirmed. Queried it again and the young lady went off to check and came back to say that it was correct, only £10 increase even keeping the samsung. She also said that as from June 1st V+ would be £150 instalation and then nothing extra to pay. Asked about anyone on existing V+ contract and was told they would be getting some kind of offer to change to the new contract, but no word yet as to the details.
Decided to go for the V+ and keep samsung. Gave details and put on hold then got cut off before confirmation.
Getting a bit fed up now so rang again and this time I was told that if I kept the samsung I would be paying £15 per month. Complained that this was contrary to what I had been told by two other operators and eventually the young man said he would contact the lady I was in the process of ordering from and get her to ring me straight back - that was six hours ago and I've given up hope on it.
I still want a V+ but what in the world is going on at CS?
I must also add that all the operators I spoke to were very polite and tried to be helpful.

Re: Trying to get V+

I know this is no consolation to yourself but considering we were told the rebranding to VM was held back for some time "until Ntl's dire customer services were brought up spec" I find this all quite hilarious.

Rumour has it that there are a few at VM that do have a clue, trouble is you will just have to keep phoning till you find one, that is, if you are still feeling brave enough to take on a V+

Good Luck.

I've never had trouble phoning customer services when it was Telewest. So far I've not needed to ring since change over.
Never been put through to an Indian call centre guess Telewest didn't use them, but has that changed? Thinking of upgrading to v+ do you think they will ever offer free upgrades(limited time offer) like they did with digital?

Telewest customers do get put through to India. Communication can be difficult and the quality of the phone connection is lousy.

Re: Trying to get V+

Decided to try again on Friday - first day of new offer - but lady at Indian call centre knew nothing about the change. Put me through to the UK but wrong place (again) after telling me I didn't have a modem - I have a 250. Redirected to the right place and signed up (had to tell her I had a modem - I've had it for over a year). Didn't realise you had to pay the £150 by credit card, anyway the box is due 0n 13th (must be a huge demand now) so I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do.

Tom,

When it's all working as it should it's darn good. The 3 tuners certainly are what makes it.

Unbelievable how many bl***y times the schedulers will put 3, or more, good programmes on at 9pm.

I wouldn't complain too loudly. We signed up for Sky Sports last month at the same time as V+.

Since then we've been treated to some lousy games (hello England, is McLaren the Hopeless still in charge?) where the alternative film options have been the better bet, and we've been very pleased that the V+ box has been able to cope.
