Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

I have just bought a Toshiba 32C3030DB LCD TV, I've got it working with a Scart cable. But I want to use a HDMI cable that I have bought.

Ive connected the HDMI cable into the V+ box and the TV but theres just a blank screen when I select HDMI on the tv

On the V+ box I try to select HDMI in settings menu but it goes back to widescreen, i have tried everyone of the V+ box HIDEF output options and still nothing......

This is driving me crazy!! Does anybody please have any ideas on how i can get this to work?

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

Do you have to set up the TV to use HDMI as well?

And to the forum.

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

thank you for the welcome and for replying so soon, i'm pulling my hair out

The TV has an onscreen menu to flick between the scart connection, HDM1, HDMI2, PC etc....

The V+ is working fine through the scart connection, but when i choose the HDMI options i just get a blank screen. I've read a problem almost identical to this further down the forum, I tried what apparently worked for that person but to no avail

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

Are you pressing the TEXT key after switching the output to HDMI? If not, it'll revert to SCART after a few seconds.

It's deliberately made difficult to stop people accidentally switching to HDMI. A few still manage though!

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

I rang the 'helpline' last night and they mentioned the text button but this doesnt seem to do anything

Here's what i'm doing:

whilst still viewing the picture throught the SCART connection

Pressing the home button on the V+ remote

Selecting Change display & audio settings

Changing TV Display format to 'HIDf HDMI'

this then brings up a message saying please wait while we test your settings, i click yes the screen goes blank for a few seconds, and when the picture comes back the TV display format is still showing as widescreen. I've tried all the various different V+ Box HiDef output options along with this and nothing. I know (hopefully!) its probably going to be something annoyingly simple that i'm not doing but

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

I have then same problem, I have tried this all ways, I pressed text after I've gone to my HDMI input, I clicked text just after pressing OK to test the settings but I still get a Blue screen

I've got cable to come and look at it tomorrow, do you think it's a box or lead problem

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

When you are prompted to press 'text' to confirm - before pressing it - turn your TV (not v+) back to correct input (using 'Aux' button)

when you are on the correct input - now press 'text'

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

Thanks for the reply Jethro, I am not getting a prompt to press text, just a blank blue screen, which is what makes me think I have a lead /box problem

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

Quite often there is a problem with TV switching inputs

Give it a try when the blue screen come up (press 'ext' on 'TV' remote until you're back to HDMI)

EDIT: You have got V+ box set to output HDMI i assume?

Please make sure you can see a picture before you press the text button or you will cause a hd lock out

Re: Problems with connecting V+ to a HDTV through a HDMI cable

Still no luck,

I set the screen to Hidef hdmi 720 wide, click yes to the prompt.

The screen then goes blue, I change input to HDMI 1 and the screen stays blue--- no other prompt to click text, as Ned says if you press text (I take it it's the text on the TV remote not the V+ remote) without the picture it locks the V+ (which I've unlocked 6 times today by pressing play/stop when the box resets)

Hopefully the tech visit tomorrow will sort it out, Thanks for your help

For what it's worth - mine TV doesn't work on 720, only 1080
