Recording problem still not fixed!!

Hi

Further to recent posts concerning picture breakup (or blank recording) on V+ box. A couple of weeks ago an engineer came out and advised that our V+ box needed its own cable from the cabinet to the house (at the moment there is one cable coming in from the road feeding our V+ box plus 2 additional standard set top boxes). He went away saying he would book the job in.

Several days later we phoned Virgin Media to ask when the work would be taking place - they advised that the engineer had NOT booked the job in. My wife mistakingly advised that the engineer advised us that we needed a new cable from the street cabinet to our house. This job was seemingly booked in for last Friday. When my wife returned home on Friday as there was no evidence of any work having been done near the box on the wall outside, she decided to phone Virgin Media - they said yes the work had been done.

Have made a lot of recordings over the weeked and all recordings until tonight have been fine, but I recorded the British Superbikes on ITV1 last Sunday (between 3 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.) all was ok up until about 45 minutes into the programme when the picture started to break up - it was unwatchable then right up until the end.

My query is should the engineers have fitted an additional cable from the street cabinet to directly feed our V+ box (rather than go by what my wife mistakingly had mentioned which was to install a NEW cable - and therefore still have all 3 boxes in the house feeding of the one cable)?? Indeed, would have 2 separate cables make such a difference??

Re: Recording problem still not fixed!!

The cabinet sends signal to the property , due to connections ,cable type ,distance and splitting the signal .The signal reduces significantly due to this and if the signal is to low at the house you will get loss of picture ,blocking and the rest. The options they have is.
Increase the signal at the Dp,cabinet ,slot.
If this is not possible a second cable can be pulled and used to feed one of the units, this would reduce the signal loss on the first cable.
The technichian should have had notes put on your account for a second cable to be pulled and the reason why as they have to justify the cost of fitting the additional cable.
