V+ including Sky Sports package - Best deal?

We currently have Virgin Media Broadband and telephone, both on a very good deal as a couple of months ago we were on our way back to BT to take up Sky Broadband, but then customer retentions stepped in to offer an unbeatable deal of £20 pm for Broadband 4MB + Unlimited 24/7 phone for 12 months.

We have had Sky for TV for about 6 years since switching from NTL because Sky offered more interactive sports options via the red button.

We currently have a standard Sky box and a package that includes Sky Sports channels (no movies) for £37pm, but wouldn't mind getting Sky+. There is some talk about deals that Sky are offering to old (and current subscribers although the offer states otherwise) to get a refurb Sky+ box incl installation for free.

All in all we have been happy with Sky, but I wonder with the current shake up and extra competition whether Virgin Media do provide a better all round TV deal, particularly with Virgin's V+ box?

I have looked on the Virgin website but cannot make sense of just how much getting a V+ box to include a Sky Sports (not movies) subscription would be per month.

What is the best current deal on this type of package? Can anyone make sense of it all?

TIA.

IMO it would be best to ring up VM to find out what they are prepared to offer you. Sky are offering Sky+ box free and have waved off the monthly £10 for Sky+ service.
VM would probably want to offer u something as well.

I think its something like £24 for Sky Sports and a TV Pack, then £10 a month for V+. Note that that £10 includes a £5 subscription to VoD, BASICALLY meaning V+ is a fiver, for "Record Two Programs, watch a third" and also no big One Off charge,, such as the £199 for Sky+.

The bonus with Sky is the vast amount of channels.

You can now get Sky+ for free, as long as you buy the Box (£199) and subscribe to Sky Channels + Sports for £34 a month, so the choice is yours.

So if i was to get Sky now, I would get the Sky+ box FREE, and not have to pay £10 subs?

basically making the Sky+ box the standard box?

Obviously I would take up 2 mixes...

I hope what is said is true... coz i have been waiting for that for some time lol

They sent me this offer by post. And i only had to sign up for a £15 a mth contract. Now it might b because i am an ex sky customer and it mentioned a refurb sky+ box.
U cud try calling them and saying u received this offer through the post from sky, tell them it had your name on. they might say that u have to hav had sky in the past. in which case u might push yr luck n say well u did receive it through the post with yr name on! or if uv had sky previusly then it shudt b a problem

wikid!!! yes, we did have sky previously....... although I would like a new dish since our dish is atleast 8-9 years old! It is working as currently we are getting all the free channels, but the card I think is not paired to the box since I got the box from market as my original box broke! Only use it to watch news channels/B4U music etc on the tv upstairs, since we have ntl too, it gives us a choice of 2 channels at the same time upstairs. I know that doesnt make too much sense, but I tried to be clear lol.

PS, I do know the £10 charge was going to be dropped, but this is regarding the FREE sky + box! The reason to get it? I pay VM £8/£10 for Star Plus. For £15, I can get Star (Plus, News, One, Gold), and the recording facilities and what not of Sky +!

Well i have kept my old sky box in the bedroom upstairs as well. As u said, we get b4u n zee music foc and the other freeview channels-though since when b4u n zee r freeview i have no idea!!! bt hey, our luck!
U can defo try your luck then. Tell them u've had sky and u received the offer through the post. whether they will install a new dish, am not sure!
But u will get the sky+ refurb box free and there won't be any £10 subscription fee for the service. You only pay for the channels if u know what i mean!
Let us know what happens.
