FA Cup Extra Time >>> Doctor Who?

Will the EPG update the series link for tonight's Doctor Who to compensate for the extra time played in the most boring FA Cup Final ever seen?

Re: FA Cup Extra Time >>> Doctor Who?

Recorded fine but for the record the EPG wouldn't update if changes were made last minute.

Also - it will be on Watch Again for a week anyway.

Re: FA Cup Extra Time >>> Doctor Who?

It basically meant that Shearer, Linekar, Hansen, Hughes all had less time to talk.

The schedule wasnt altered.

Re: FA Cup Extra Time >>> Doctor Who?

Actually, the schedule WAS altered.

This is my big bugbear with V+ and I have spoken to Virgin Media about it on several occasions. They do not intend to do anything about it though.

The F A Cup ran over into extra time. Originally sceduled to finish at 17.30 followed by News. At 17.50 the BBC had programmed "Just For Laughs". Then Peoples Quiz at 18.20 with Dr Who at 19.15.

I had a friend round and we were talking about how Sky update the programme information in real time. So, as the football had run over, and for a long while looked like it was going to penalties we watched both the Sky and V+ EPG simulataneously.

At 17.35 the Sky EPG registered that the football was going to be extended until 18.00, Just for Laughs had been dropped and the News was going to be on in the 18.00 - 18.20 slot.

The V+ EPG just carried on with the original, now incorrect, programme data.

This happened during the World Cup. A game over ran, the Sky epg updated to the new programme data. The V+ epg carried on with the old data, Turning on to record a programme I had set to record, believing it was still scheduled and ended up recording 30 minutes of football.

When I rang Virgin (Telewest at the time) they said it was impossible to change epg data at such short notice.

However, when I pointed out that Sky do it, and must have someone programming the data in real time when there is a liklihood of such an event. I was told that Virgin couldn't do it and had no plans to adopt such a service as technically it would involve downloading data to all the boxes.

I say now, as I said then. A PVR that cannot record programmes when simple schedule changes are made, especially when the competition can is fatally flawed. I mean, Jeez, even my old VHS could cope with that one!
