V+ Box Query

Currently I have XL TV package at £20.50 with 2 additional STBs in kids bedrooms at a monthly cost of £15 each. The V+ service is a £10/month addition to the XL service plus £5 per additional V+ box.

Can anyone confirm that the additonal V+ boxes replace the existing STB in other rooms or are they separate units which need the original STB present?

If the additional V+ boxes replace the existing STB then £10 + £5 + £5 = £20 is less than the £30 per month for the existing STBs.

Clarification appreciated!

Re: V+ Box Query

The V+ is a replacement for a standard STB.

As far as I know, it is likely you will only get a single V+ (although a few others apparently have more than one, depending on the area). The additional £5 per box you refer to is for a standard STB. Your maths are right - one of your boxes would be replaced by a V+ and you could retain your 2 additional STBs for a total of £20.

to the forums, BTW!

Re: V+ Box Query

It's a swap out and I think the price of spare standard boxes should be £10 but I may be wrong.

The best thing to do is call them as they might give you a deal .As for having a second V+ it depends where you live .One thing to remember is if you have the box in a bedroom they can be a bit noisey

Re: V+ Box Query

Thanks guys for the replies.

Incidentally, an operative from the Virgin call centre in New Dehli tried to convince me that the installation was £75 per box andwouldn't budge on that!!

A second call resulted in advice that it was £75 per installation not per box but they couldn't process an order and ring 150 between 8 and 5 on a week day.

So I placed a web order for V+ and additional V+. The acknowledgement said the Virgin team would contact me to arrange a date. 10 days later - nothing?

So I called 150 again last night and they could not give me a date but said the sales team would call Monday to explore if dates had opened up.

Do you have any info that there is a shortage of boxes or serious backlog of installation or are new customers getting priority to attract them from Sky?

Any thoughts?

I personally got lucky here in NE Lincs. I had to wait 3 days for installation! It is worth the wait though!

It would seem that the £75 install charge is no longer valid, and you can get it for £25, or free if you are prepared to haggle.

See this thread on DigitalSky....... post #28 onwards.
