Question hdmi for vplus box & working it with tv in another room

I have just changed over from sky to vm and i can't say i am ecstatic so far (I like it but not vm customer services they are s..t but then again so are sky) My problem is i have a pioneer plasma tv with a media box. The hdmi cable for my vplus box goes to my media receiver like all my components go to i.e my xbox 360 dvd player etc. My problem is i run a co ax cable through my wall to my flip down tv in kitchen, i can pick up the picture when the settings are set to 4:3 normal in display & audio settings but as soon as i change over to hdmi for hd viewing on the 1 channel vm have ( what a waste so far) the picture on my kitchen tv will be lost. Does anyone know why or have any suggestions to this that can be rectified?

Does anyone as well have any idea if vm are gonna bring more hd channels for the vplus service, they really need sky sports hd on there...........

Re: hdmi for vplus box & working it with tv in another room

From what I have read on numerous occasions, although I have not tested this myself as I do not have Sky, on Sky HD, all outputs are active at the same time, so you can connect via HD to one TV, and connect a scart or RF to an AV sender to send to other televisions as well. On the other hand, on the V+ box, they purposely disable all other outputs. You used to be able to use the VCR scart which would still output the picture, but they disabled that in the last update.

As for VM getting more Sky HD channels, at the moment it is unlikely due to the growing bad relationship between Sky and VM. Sky were reportedly offering some (although specifics unkown to the public) HD content and VOD content to VM as part of the deal, but VM rejected this. It could have also potentially opened the doors to Sports or Movies HD content as well, for extra cost of course. However, this seems highly unlikely now.

If what you say is true, how is that I am able to copy a V+ recording to my DVD recorder via the bottom scart socket without changing the V+ HDMI output?

Also does anyone know if the SATA connection at the rear of the V+ box is active?, if so could I connect an external hard drive to give me more recording capacity?

Gordon.

Re: hdmi for vplus box & working it with tv in another room

The VCR Scart is only activated when you use the copy to DVD/VCR function, but the rest of the time it is inactive (previously, the channel you were watching was sent out the VCR scart too, but that was disabled as it meant people could use HD and Scart at the same time).

The SATA connection at the current time is disabled, as far as I am aware. They may enable it in the future, but at current this is not available. The hardware ability exists, but is not supported in the current software they are running on the boxes, as far as I know.
