Re: v+ hdmi enabled is aerial output disabled?

Don't have a V+ box, but the last I heard, yes enabling the hdmi output also disables RF

Suggested resolution? Keep the standard set top box, and route the RF signal through from there instead.

This won't allow you to watch recorded programs in the kitchen, but at least you'll be able to get standard cable channels.

Alternatively, you could use the 2nd scart on your V+ box, feed the signal through to your video/dvd recorder, and use the RF out from that box to feed the signal through to the kitchen by using the functionality that allows you to record programs onto video/dvd. (won't normally work with anything containing macrovision)

i had thought about your suggestion but deemed it too cumbersome as id have to keep switchin on the v+ box! i have a standard v box upstairs with a scart output to tv would the aerial still be enabled on that one?

So far as I'm aware, that would work fine. Just select the channel you want to use on the v box. I use a similar system at home - my samsung v box in the living room feeds 4 other TVs around the house via RF and a signal amplifier

The only place you might fall down is that Virgin don't guarantee to feed the analogue (broadcast) RF signal through there, so you may be unable to get the standard bbc1-ch5 channels unless you're also feeding in a standard tv aerial signal. This is no great loss, as these signals are due to be dropped over next 5 years.
