V+ Hd Channels

Virgin Media dont really mention the fact they do the HD Box for free while sky charge £299. why is this? VM have 4 channels and they might lose bbc hd yet, They think they will get more but I dont think they will. Its very dissappointing

Re: V+ Hd Channels

Having just bought a HD TV, kids (okay, me as well!! ) are thinking of getting a V+.

Cost of installation puts me off £75 I think although I have XL-TV, L-Broadband, L-Telephone, Mobile and Sky Sports with them.

Just wondering what channels are available on HD now (and near future). Web-site not very clear.

If Sky-Sports ain't then its a non starter.

Re: V+ Hd Channels

Sky Sports definately isn't and to be honest probably never will be.

Virgin have the grand total of one HD channel - namely BBC HD which is quite good quality wise most of the time but content is a bit light, although recently it has been picking up. There is now a few more HD versions of programmes being transmitted simultaneously with BBC 1.

There have been rumours in the past about Discovery HD and National Geographic HD 'coming soon' but nothing definate and personally I wouldn't hold my breath. Although the V+ box's HD capabilities look very good on paper, VM really can't use it as a selling point because they will promptly be shot down over the lack of content. The box is a very good PVR though and I tend to see it as an alternative to the Sky+ box with the HD capabilities being a bonus rather than the main feature.

Re: V+ Hd Channels

I can see V+ having some more channels then just 1 by the end of the year. Especially with BBC HD Trials ending in November.

Not quite sure where you're getting this information from. BBC would be committed under the terms of licence agreements to ensure that HD would be available to all platforms.

12 months ago Telewest had 2 part time trial HD channels, now we have 1. There has not, to my knowledge, been any announcement from VM suggesting that HD channels are "coming soon".

VM's customer base are rapidly losing faith and charity in the company, but continue to live in hope (blind hope).

Your predictions may prove correct, DarkGashX. I would be grateful if someone at VM could tell us what plans they have in this regard.

Maybe Sir RB would be better of talking to his customers. Or even just reading this forum!

Re: V+ Hd Channels

Doesn't Sir RB have an email address or something ? We could do with letting him know that we are paying for one of his products (V+ Box) and wanting some HD content. One part time HD channel just isn't good enough.

Re: V+ Hd Channels

Agreed. Many of us bought into the TVDrive (V+) for the promise of HD channels, watching the World Cup in HD was supposed to be just the start.

Does anyone else remember Telewest's misguided Telewest-1, Sky-0 adverts?

Anyone know the latest score?

I wish they would hurry up with it. I haven't even heard anything lately about Discovery HD and National Geographic HD.

I want an announcement from VM .
