Installation of V+ on friday
My friends Pace survived the new software download and she has now decided to have the V+ installed in addition to her original box. It's a few months now since I had the V+ installed and I was wondering what to advise her to check on before the installation guy escapes out of the door.
I have been trawling through the last months threads and it seems that installations are getting better.
I have explained about the need to make sure that both boxes work before he leaves, and to make sure that their BB is working but....would you advise anything else?
As she has ordered the V+ do you think she will need to check that the installer knows he needs to bring a modem or is this done automatically now, and does he still provide a HDMI cable?
What is the position with the red button these days? (Took weeks to sort mine out)
Don't want to make people re-live earlier nightmare installations, but, your help will be greatly appreciated.

I think to make sure the on demand works and all channels are available before the engineer leaves is a must. Installations seem to be pretty good from what i've read, i just hope your friends is. I would advise her to ring up to make sure engineer brings new modem and hdmi lead, it stops any arguements on the day!!.
Hope it goes well for your friend

When I had mine installed I called the sales dept informed them about my install and they added the appropriate items to my order.

Re: Installation of V+ on friday
I was advised by the engineer who was sorting my phone line 3 days prior to my V+ install to make sure everything works and it will take about an hour for the complete install. If the install takes 10 mins and the engineer buggers off then get his name and supervisors phone number because you can almost guarantee something will not work.
As far as my V+ install went, sure enough after 10 mins the engineer cleared off and guess what, it didn't work properly!

Re: Installation of V+ on friday
Update.
Installation seems to have gone well. Contractor arrived at about 9.30am and had HDMI lead and modem. (Friend phoned yesterday to confirm they were on worksheet).
Took about 1hr, first thing he did was to swap old stb for the V+ and phoned up to do whatever. Had difficulty drilling through wall to upstairs bedroom (engineering bricks) but that was the only hiccup. He even left a V+ manual with his mobile number written on the back page in case there were any follow up problems. Pace seems to have survived the move and bb working on it's new modem.
My friends have asked me to thank you guys for the tips which they say came in useful.
So thank you.

Re: Installation of V+ on friday
V+ does not support (Sorry I don't know the technical term) bb. In this instance original wiring to the computer was left in place when ordinary stb was replaced by V+ and a stand alone modem was therefore required.
Sorry I can't help with the red button problem. Here are a couple of threads, if one covers your problem then posting your question there should bring you some advise. This thread will probably be a bit of a dead end for your enquiry and you may not get a proper reply.

Re: Installation of V+ on friday
I had the dreaded "Red Button" problem, so I pressed "Reset" on the box and hey presto, it's working (for now anyway)

If you were/are only receiving BB through a set topbox the maximum you can receive is 1Mb from the Pace box & 4mb from the Samsung box. Everyone need a SACM Stand Alone Cable Modem for the 10mb service. Virgin are actively issuing a SACM to anyone who is after BB by default now. So receiving BB through your set top box is being phased out.
Hope that helps.....Stan
