Moving home (+ a road that doesnt exsist!)
Posted on digital spy - then realised this is probably a better forum to use....
Quote:
I have been reading the cable forums avidly since I got TVDrive (well v+ but i have the silver box still )...
Anyway to the point of the thread...
I am basically moving flat (well not the flat - that would be far too heavy :p ) to a shiny new place, which is a new street/new build, the property I will be gracing with my presence does not have cable installed in the flat – but it is most certainly available in the street….
Now I know for fact that there are flat's with cable installed - I even viewed a property with cable installed... But virgin are leaving me in the dark on the whole situation, calls to their moving dept seems futile as I get the spiel that they need to add the address manually - and I give my contact details, yet no one calls me back....
I have called twice - first time i got a call back, but it was bank holiday and was promised that once the guys who add address's to the database were not working that day, they will call me tomorrow... Tomorrow came and went and no call, so again I called - no notes on my account about a moving request furthermore the lovely lady took all my details and said I would get a call back (again the next day)
Well ladies and gents, I still haven’t head anything - and tbh I am semi - tempted to pull out the contract, as I prefer sky anyway (hate to admit this in a cable forum... :o ).
But as I have till next January to fulfil I am guess I will be charged for pulling out? I move on the 18th and I really need broadband for my work/uni commitments (I sometimes work from home). I appreciate I have left this a tad late in the proceedings, perhaps I am being a bit unreasonable and expecting instant results

to the forum. It sounds like Virgin Media may need to send someone to do a site survey.
We have contacts within VM, if you PM (click my name, then "Send Private Message") me your Name, address (as on the account), account number and a daytime contact phone number, I can refer this case.

This forum is a great place to get help. Several years ago I moved into a newly built house. We had cable to the left of us, cable to the right, but our property didn't appear on the NTL database (which was years out of date). Complained on this forum (I think it was NTHell back then) and got a private email from the regional manager at NTL telling me he'd fix it. Within the week we were sorted.
I think Digital Spy is good for info, but this is the place where the engineers make posts and things happen.

That's good of you Stu.
Hope it gets sorted.
I assume they would just send an engineer out and get it intalled (after the survey) but if one flat has it, can't see there being problems for your flat.
Hope it all gets sorted.

If you know that other flats in the block have VM when you call up and say thaat the other flats have the service they should be on the system .Get them to check if no joy ask for someone to come out for peace of mind

i think its a bit of a free for all as in most developments in edinburgh! The services are not installed into the flat - i think its just a request type scenario - there is a communial dish mind you....
i deffo have permission from the agency to install (same with sky) but my last sky dish blew off in the high winds on new years eve well not clean off but as good as - and i fancied a change
