Unable to get freeview through V+ connection

I may be being stupid but I've recently bought a new TV which has inbuilt Freeview. I've got a V+ box connected and the TV doesn't find any channels on Freeview when I do a search. It's not the end of the world if I can't get the extra few channels that Freeview offers which VM doesn't, but does anyone know if there is a way of finding the channels - seems a bit of a shame that there is Freeview inbuilt but I can't watch it (mainly want it for Sky News and SSN). Thanks!

Re: Unable to get freeview through V+ connection

You would need to use a different antenna - not one plugged into the v+ box.

Thanks for the info - there's only one aerial socket in my living room and I'm not going to pay for another for a couple of channels! I guess I could try an internal set top aerial but not sure how much use that will be. Thanks again for the info.

Re: Unable to get freeview through V+ connection

Prawn1978, if you are in London SE1 as your profile says, then you may find (local evironment permitting) that you are near enough Crystal Palace (the transmitter where Freeview broadcasts from for London) to get a good signal using a Set Top aerial.

The ariel plugs into the telly giving the freeview signal. The telly can be then switched between Freeview input (built in) or V+ input from the V+ box (usually HDMI) but can be DVI or SCART 1 or 2
Set top ariels are not very good for freeview imo

Your TV only needs one socket - try plugging your TV/freeview aerial in it
