Can using internet affect tv signal strength?

Hi

Just wondering, have V+ box, stand alone Cable Modem and 2 STBs in bedrooms. Can using internet affect the signal strength coming through the cable to the V+ box that it could affect recordings?

Thanks

The installers should have taken the number of devices you have into account and given you a suitably strong feed(s) from the street cab. In theory your feed should be just over 6dB's higher in strength than a feed for a single box. 6dB's means 4 times the level.

Thanks Creative

As far as I am aware, since having one STB, then one additional STB and another STB - no alteration was made in the street cabinet. Nor (to my knowledge) was any adjustment made in the street cabinet when the V+ box was installed.

Does the following information from the Tech Stuff screen of the V+ box indicate suitable signal strength? (been having real problems recording ITV1 especially in mid-evening - recordings breaking up after few minutes or just blank screen from beginning)

SNR 31.0db,32.0db,31.0db

Pre RS Errors 0,0,0 per 0.5s (although tonight during snooker one time I checked it was 1,0,1 per 0.5s - would this still be normal?)

Post RS Errors 0,0,0 per 0.5s

AGC signal level -6dBmV,-4dBmV,-4dBmV

Return power 50dBmV

After countless phone calls to Virgin Media they have decided the V+ box is faulty and are coming out Saturday to replace, I'm just wondering if my problem is more to do with insufficient signal strength from the street cabinet (how easy is it for an engineer to increase signal strength from the cabinet and should I mention this to the engineer?)

Thanks for any help.

Those figures are fine. But was it tuned to ITV1 at the time?

You really need to check at the time the breakup is happening.
