Network ID 00003

After numerous and arduous attempts to get V+ installed and working we are left with one outstanding issue, unable to get VOD, red button not working etc, I was advised by tech support that the network ID needs to be 5 (Mines 00003) and over and that the box will require replacing?

Now it took 8 days for them to pair my card last time so I am fearful that after changing the box this could happen again. So my question is does this network ID relate to me not being able to get On Demand and the rest of the red button services?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike

Re: Network ID 00003

Whereabouts are you Mike? The Network ID depends on where you live. An incorrect one in a Langley region would normally mean that your box wouldn't boot, or you'd be missing broadcast channels.

In Langley regions, the Network ID should be automatically detected by the box.

Re: Network ID 00003

Hi

00003 (or, more simply, 3) is the correct Network ID for your region (Yateley comes under the Guildford headend). 5 is the NID for Luton, so goodness knows where they got that from...

Ok so now I am really worried they are going to change my V+ box on Saturday afternoon which they claim will resolve the on demand or lack of it. the thing that worries me more is how long it could take for them to get the box active again

Thanks for the reply guys and I am open to any other suggestions.

Re: Network ID 00003

Light flashing nope just on. I can record, but not access any on demand services or red button options other than the HD preview option when in guide mode.

If trying to access on demand it says please wait in bottom left hand corner then just freezes only a reboot brings it back to life.

Re: Network ID 00003

Sounds like there's a problem with the way your box is set up on the Interactive server. A box swap will probably fix it, but it's a bit of a sledgehammer/nut scenario...

All that's probably needed is a resync in the Interactive provisioning system, but it seems no-one in faults has thought of that... If I was in work this week I'd have a look for you but I'm on holiday until Monday.

Re: Network ID 00003

Engineer arrived today and to be honest between him and who ever he was calling they claimed there is nothing wrong with the V+ box but something to do with the MAC Addy not being registered

He claims that it will be fixed by Monday and that all the installations that have been carried out in the Guildford area are having the same problem.

He also complained because I have the box resting on its side instead of flat I really do not see what difference that makes to be honest unless someone can tell me otherwise. He also said that he could not carry out further tests as he needed the box to be connected via scart instead of HDMI

I then lost all confidence when I said about sound dropping and bad picture as in goes very pixilated is also down to the MAC addy not being registered.

I registered a serious complaint with CS/Tech support on the 22nd of March and I still have not received a call back re this and I am getting really despondent with the whole VM/NTL at the moment.

Putting the box on its side disrupts the designed ventilation for cooling: the top of the box is almost completely covered with vents for this purpose.

Correct: the engineer's diagnostic menus are only available on the SCART connection.
