Might be the way - the cable seems cheap compared to the one in the link that has component to VGA as part of the cable. I know it tends to be a case of you get what you pay for so I wonder whether getting the single cable might give better quality. How well does your component cable work and what length is it? (Loughborough is where I was born and bred by the way!)

(b) your projector can be configured to accept Component signals (Pr, Y, Pb) on the pins of the VGA input which normally carry R,G,B signals. So you can simply use a normal RGB-to-VGA breakout adapter with your component inputs substituting for the RGB ones. No electronics is required in the adapter, it's just a cable adapter.

ref (a) - yes I was being quite stoopid to suggest that - the two audio cables are clearly unsuitable but I wasn't thinking clearly!
(b) I'm happy that the signal will be accepted without conversion and, I think, the signal will be easily configured using the projector menu but I will wait and see what happens when I plug it in. I've checked the resolutions that the component input (via VGA) will accept and it will cover 720p and 1080i so that will be fine.
I just have to decide now whether to
1. Buy the cable
here with component one end and VGA connection on the other @ £28.99 hoping that it will be in stock before the V+ arrives.
2. Buy the same cable available now but for substantially more
here or
here for about £45 (a massive difference to £28.99 that).
3. Buy the component cable
here, for £9.90 as suggested by ShadowTD and the adaptor
here for £9.99 (probably a few quid p&p - which will take it up closer to the option 1 cost).
It seems like option three is the best bet but if I buy the cheaper cable with a connector will that significantly compromise the signal quality when compared to the single cable with component to VGA in option 1? I would usually spend a bit more on most things to get a better quality option, as long as it makes a difference.
Thanks to you both for your responses and thanks also Robin for the help that I have got from your website over the years!
