I have been on the phone to VM sales a number of times and as others here had some nifty stories told to get me to sign up. Most things turned out false when I rung another sales rep. I currently have Size M telly and the phone pack and want to upgrade to V+. On their Web site they say it's £15 per month but when I ask for it on the phone they say they cannot do it and that I have to upgrde to Size L telly first before I can upgrade to V+. That would cost me an extra £26.50 pm just to get a cable receiver with HDMI (TrueHD and SCART don't really pair up that well) and access to some HD content. I have rung the OFT and they said they would pass this on to the Trading Standards people but asked me to write to VM myself complaining. Perhaps someone from VM is reading this and could help with an explanation. If it is advertised at that price they should also sell it: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/webs...ervice.do?id=1

It says in more than one place on the web site that it's £15 pm if you have size M, so I'd say you have a good case or, more likely, you've been 'spun a yarn'.

WELL, I rung the Retention number today and after around 20 minutes I spoke to a nice lady who said that there shouldn't be a problem. I was then passed around a few more times and eventually I was given an install date. Splendid. Although they tried to add £17 to my bill - or perhaps the sales rep just couldn't add up. Also no mention of an install charge. I wonder whether that'll be added quietly! Can't wait to get a decent box with HDMI and access to some HD content.
