Teletext and outside aerial?

Hi

Sorry first post and its a question

I have had my V+ for a week now and love it but I am trying to get teletext back because the wife reads it all the time. I know I can't get it through the V box but thought I would be able to by using the old outside terrestrial aerial but the televison will not tune into the stations anymore? It just scans through and picks up nothing. I have even tried disconecting the V box scart from the telly and only having the aerial lead in but it still doesn't pick up any stations at all.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Cheers for any help

Re: Teletext and outside aerial?

Did the engineer cut the terrestrial cable, when he installed the v+ box?

Has the aerial blown down or pointing in a different direction to others on the street?

I have a couple more questions for the forum

What became of Digital teletext?

What happens to teletext when the government switches off the analogue signal

Teletext disappears.
You get BBC interactive services, and on freeview, teletext interactive services.

No the aerial is fine and I can tune in another television using it but not the original television even with the V box disconnected.

Thanks for any help

Sounds Like your teletext card is broke in the tv if another tv works

Looks like the teletext chaps will be out of a job them.

Does interactive work with cable - mine just locks up and requires a reboot

Mostly, as long as you have one of the newer paces (4000 series) or a Samsung box.

It got replaced with a (IMO) inferior substitute, Interactive.

Initially, I was told that the reason NTL digital does not carry teletext is that it is not technically possible. I have now been told (by quadplay, who is in a position to know) that teletext can technically be supported, but is not supported in all areas because the EX-CWC (Bromley) areas get their terrestrial TV channels from Freeview, which doesn't carry Teletext.

Re: Teletext and outside aerial?

Well having switched from analogue to cable tv 18 months ago the loss of teletext is not 1 but 10 steps back. Everyone knows how to use teletext, it's fairly quick, easy and simple to use, and you know what pages apply to you. The cable interactive is just to slow to bother.

Analogue teletext is very slow - you have to wait for the page to roll round, and then it's bound to be on the fourth sub-page. At least there's not that problem with the digital service.

Its a bit like saying that cellphones are 10 steps back from the candlestick phones from the 19th century.

Sorry andycambs, I don't agree but to each their own.

Cellphones - What are they? Could it be this brick that sits on my kitchen worktop. Seems to be glowing or radiating or something.

Either make Interactive much bigger and faster or give us Teletext.

I'd be happy just to be able to get Interactive.

Re: Teletext and outside aerial?

When i first got cable (years ago) i bought one of those IR keyboards. What a load of old poo that was. I bought it because i thought i would be able to do email and such on the TV. How wrong i was. Interactive is just too slow.
