V+ Box - Too Hot?

Hi,
Has anybody else noticed that the V+ gets extremely hot even when on standby, is this normal? I expect it to warm up while in use but this seems a bit excessive, my wife says that she can even smell it when she is near it. Has anybody else had similar problems with V+ This is not the new black box but the old Telewest type.

I have the silver TVDrive and don't have this problem. Is your box well ventilated (!)?

Re: V+ Box - Too Hot?

Thanks EssDee there is nothing above the vent on top of the box for over 12 inches, one side is free but the other is almost against a wall. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: V+ Box - Too Hot?

Mine has vents at the right hand side of the box as you look at it from the front and is well vented. Is it this side you have against the wall?

Re: V+ Box - Too Hot?

EssDee

Thanks again, mine also has vents on right hand side, so I have moved it away from the wall for a few days, still getting just as hot. Have spoken to faults at VM and they just tell me that it runs hot, not entirely happy with this so have tech. coming down to take a look.
Will update when they have checked it.

Re: V+ Box - Too Hot?

There's another thread here that talks about using a laptop cooler plugged into a USB port on the back of the V+.
