Record three at once

The 2 tuner Sky+ box allows you to record two programmes with the box in standby or if watching an already recorded programme.

I presume that the V+ isn't able to record three things at once.

Am I right that V+ has 3 tuners and one decoder? I wonder if this will be a future feature (as it was with Sky+).

Anyone think this would be useful? I will admit that there are very few times when I want to record three things at once - but it would certainly help with programe clashes etc.

Re: Record three at once

V+ will let you record two programmes while watching a third programme.

Sky+ will only let you record two programmes and you would have to watch one of the programmes being recorded, as it only has two tuners.

Re: Record three at once

you can sort of get it to record the third program buy making sure the channel is tuned (manually or via reminder) then either press pause or make sure you start watching before the end of the program and manually rewind to the begining.

Not a true recording but at least it lets you watch it a later time.

Re: Record three at once

Could you not record the two through V+ and the third channel being watched directly on the video/DVD recorder?

Only as long as you're not watching via the HDMI cable because then the Scart is disabled

Not quite true. You can watch a third program that has been already recorded with Sky+.

My point is that the Sky+ box lets you fully utilize both tuners as recorders, but with V+ you cannot utilize the three tuners in the same way.

I just wondered whether VM might enable this in the future. Like I said, I'm just curious as to if they've thought about it as it gives people another option (perhaps most useful when people are away on holiday and not watch the third tuner).

Re: Record three at once

Well by recording two and watching a third that is making use of all three tuners.

It might be enabled in the future but it would mean you probably would be able to change the channel once you started recording three things at once.

Re: Record three at once

Yes, but like I said in my example, If you go on holiday, you cannot use the three tuners to the max ability like the Sky+ box can use it's two. You cannot USE the third tuner unless you are watching it (ie. The box must be on).

I'm not Virgin bashing - I prefer my V+ box!
