V+ Misses Recordings?

Hi

We've had the V+ a few weeks now - EXCELLENT!

Except for the fact it's missed about four programmes we set to record but it descided not to! Prehaps it has a taste filter

Anyone else had this please?

Malc

Re: V+ Misses Recordings?

Yes.

Lost a couple of the desperate housewives episodes on E4, so much so that I deleted it and restarted the series recording, although it now doesn't offer me the series option unless I record on Channel 4.

Re: V+ Misses Recordings?

It gets better. We've noticed some programmed recordings have an exclaimation mark (!) on the left of the listing. I think it may be these that aren't recording.

Yes this is a known software bug on the V+ when you see the (!) it won't record that programme.

The problem is due to the padding applied to the recording the box thinks there is a programme clash even when there shouldn't be!

It occurs when series links are set up and it should drop the padding on programmes that would cause a programme clash.

For example....

Thursday 22nd March

21:00-22:00 BBC1
21:00-22:00 C4
22:00-22:30 Bravo

Everything will be fine for the 1st weeks recording but the 2nd week is a different matter

When a new day is added to the EPG for some reason the V+ doesn't drop the padding when it should so the following week a (!) recording clash indicator will appear against one of the programmes scheduled.......

Thursday 29th March

(!) 21:00-22:00 BBC1
21:00-22:00 C4
22:00-22:30 Bravo

So the BBC1 recording will fail and the only way to get it to record is cancel the all 3 series links and re-input them.

Apparently Virgin Media Technical Support are aware of this issue and are working on a software fix

Re: V+ Misses Recordings?

To solve this I usually go into the planned programmes every couple of days to make sure it's not there (the exclamation mark). If it is I go back into the EPG and cancel the series, then reset it and this usually works.

I haven't seen it happen since the software update, but I'm checking just in case.
