Not trying to be insulting here (honest ), but are you remembering to press OK before you exit?
The old NTL blue software allowed you to exit without pressing anything for settings to be saved. The black, Virgin branded software needs you to press OK before you exit

Re: V+ help! Display format wont save?
When you enter Home/Guide > Settings > Change Display and Audio Settings and make your changes, press OK to save the changes and to exit the menu.
Exiting the menus in any other way will mean your changes won't be saved.

Yes I do that..seems a technical problem. I cant set-up HD via V+ on my HD tv....when I change settings to HiDef via V+, screen is blank for a few seconds then goes back to normal

Re: V+ help! Display format wont save?
There should be a confirmation screen appearing to ask if you want to continue with the current settings if I remember correctly. If this isn't happening, its probably worth giving faults a call on 151 (free from your Virgin landline)

Do you have a scart cable and an hdmi cable plugged in? If so, at the point you select HDMI it stops outputting through scart and starts outputting through hdmi. You may need to change your TV's input source at this point to HDMI. Hopefully then you'll see the picture and be able to confirm settings.
I have to do this on my TV as HDMI does not seem to "auto switch" when a signal is sent down it.

Re: V+ help! Display format wont save?
Hi everyone,
I hope I dont appear to be hijacking the thread but I am having the same problem as Shaff.
I have a Samsung HD TV which is set up for my computer and Xbox also. My sources available are EXT 1, EXT2, PC, Component and HDMI. I have contacted Virgin support who state that everything that can be done has been done at their end and suggest it is the settings on my set.

Googleflump: I do have both HDMI and Scart plugged in. Could you explain how you change the input source and at what point you would do this.
Thanks

Hi
OK from memory:
- Go to the settings menu
- Select HDMI
- Screen should go black
- Use your TV remote to cycle through your available input sources (the button is usually labelled "AV" or something similar - depends on your TV)
- Hopefully you'll eventually arrive at your HDMI input which will be showing your Virgin Media settings screen, asking you to press TEXT to confirm these settings
- Press TEXT* and hey presto the settings should be saved
* = Note that I haven't done this since we had the new EPG, so it might have changed to press OK instead.
Does that help? What TV do you have?
EDIT: Ooops just seen you've got a Samsung TV which I have to. If yours is the 26" or 32" LCD then it will be pretty much identical to mine. If you can'f find the AV button I think it's at the top rightish area of the remote....

Thanks mate that has worked...I have managed to connect via a component lead, but when I connect via HDMI to DVI LEAD, I get no sound? Next to the DVI socket is PC sound socket...what cable do I need for sound??

Yeah, DVI is image only. You should be able to hook up some standard male phono to male phone cables between your TV and the V+ for sound.
I tend to use component output from my V+ to my TV, so I also use phono cables for sound. IIRC there is also an optical out on the V+, so you could use this too if you have optical input on your TV.

On my TV the screen goes blank and I have to change to the HD AV channel, where I then see the screen that says 'press text to save settings'
Hope this helps.

Whoops see you got the above sorted.

You can get a set of audio leads that has the red/white ends at one end and the single pc sound plug at the other - that's how I have mine hooked up
