V+ Installation Charge?

I am thinking of going v+ (sod sky).
I tried upgrading online but the form crashed....
Tried phoning, have to wait till i am back at work..
Question - installation is supposed to be FREE if you keep your old box in another room in same house, ok... so i pay £10 a month coz i am getting XL TV and pay £5 a month to run old STD Box.
So does that mean I am paying £15 a month extra and i get V+ in main room and daughter can watch basic NTL (sorry Virgin Media) in her room?
Sounds straight forward to me....

It depends on the package you get - but yes, basically that's your pricing for V+ and extra box.

V+ is FAR FAR superior to Sky+. You have answered your own question there. Virgin don't filter any streams. What you recieve is pumped directly from Sky. How can you say you've had a fair comparison using Virgin Media for less than 24 hours?

For those of us who aren't Sky fanboys, Virgin is a brilliant service. In total I've been an nynex/cable and wireless/ntl/virgin subscriber for over 9 years, and I've never had any problems.

I think your V+ must have been faulty. Channel change takes a second at most, quality is so much better than Sky's.

And back on topic, how are your brief experiences related at all to the installation charge?

Strange, when my V+ was installed I had to set up the HD output myself. The standard o/p is default to Scart.

Agreed the channel change is slower than the old Samsung but thats not a massive problem.

VM are not a cheap copy of Sky as the V+ has three tuners allowing you to record two programmes whilst watching ( and pausing etc) another.

I must have been lucky over my twelve+ years with cable, I have had only minor difficulties and no real causes for complaint.

If you want it free just kick off over the loss of sky channels, customer care will do a free upgrade.

Correct. I phoned Retentions today, and managed to get V+ free for 6 months, and Virgin agreed to waive the £75 installation fee.
