Backing up V+ recordings onto external device
Hi guys.
Newly joined cf today.
Anyone else have problems transferring V+ recordings onto vhs/dvd? It purports to work via vcr scart at the rear of the box, but all i get when attempting to do this is a recording of sound only. The message No Signal. There is no live picture at the input., is also shown.
Ive tried several combinations of connections and inputs all with the same result.
I have a Daewoo combi vcr/dvd recorder. Is it maybe a compatability issue?
Anyone any ideas?
I've had the V+ box a fortnight with pretty much all the 'bugs' Ive seen mentioned on the forum at some point or other! I'm percivering though.
thanks
GEORDIE.

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device
Sorry to jump onto this thread but i would like to know if its possible to back up recordings from the v+box onto an external dvd re-writer. I have an HP External 16x Lightscribe USB DVD Recorder .Is this possible or does the connection need to be scart to scart?

The connection needs to be scart-scart. The Ethernet and USB ports on the V+ are not used.

It should work fine with any dvd/vcr recorder with scart to scart. Make sure you've selected the right channel on your dvd recorder (mine is EXT 1) and you won't get sound and picture till you actually begin your recording and the box begins outputting.
Hope this helps

To record from the V+HD box, you must:
1. connect the lower V+HD SCART output to the SCART input of your recorder;
2. ensure your recorder is configured to record the composite-video signal on its SCART input, and not RGB;
3. use the "Copy to VHS/DVD" menu option of the V+HD: the lower SCART output gets no video signal until you start the copy operation from the V+HD menu. You cannot record what you are watching on TV.

Or use scart to a scart splitter with composite video/audio out.
I use this method to record to my Media Centre PC, and then once its recorded to the PC I can burn it to DVD. Its abit long winded and i dont record much stuff to DVD but its possible if needed.

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device
There are options for recording
A/ Connect to VCR Scart +you have to select 'record to VCR' from a menu but you can watch something else whilst it's happening - it's a composite connection so the PQ isn't great
B/ (Method i favour) Connect to TV scart and just play the programme to record - you can't watch anything else whilst this is happening + it's RGB picture quality

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device
I recorded the super league game last night and am now in the process of copying it to dvd for my parents, is it normal for it to take as long to copy as the length of the show? probably a daft question but when i used to record to my philips hdd recorder then transfer to dvdr it copied a lot faster .

Re: Backing up V+ recordings onto external device
All copying will be in real time - but you could set it and go to bed i spose
