Dodgy hdmi,am I right in thinking.....

Hi Guys

My hdmi signal keeps dropping

Am I right in thinking I will get the same picture quality using the component video ?
The reason im thinking I will is the settings in my box which are identical for hdmi and component
HDMI hi res 1080/720 etc
Component hi res 1080/720 etc

At the moment I have it set to hdmi hi res 720p wide
So if I connected the component leads and set the box to component hi res 720p wide , would that give me the same pq

Well with HDMI you are using a digital signal, so there is no conversion taking place. With component there is some A>D conversion going on so its said you do get a drop in quality, how significant this is I have yet to tell. My Xbox 360 only has a component HD option, so that takes up the slot. I have 2 HDMI ports, both currently in use, one for the TV Drive and one for my DVD player. I have to say the PQ looks stunning from both the HDMI TV Drive and the component Xbox.

If you are like me, one of those people that would always wonder what I would be missing out on by not using the HDMI then get the HDMI issue sorted. However with 1 HD channel and a serious lack of HD on demand, perhaps component would suffice for now?

Try another HDMI lead before calling faults, we'll only ask you to do so.
