Movies on Demand

Looking thru the list of movies available to watch if you press the info button on your remote for details of a movie it says 'HDMI only'. Thing is not all movies are listed with that so am I thinking that these particular movies are HD?

Pity the info box doesn't state HD or not. Much easier then to find a HD movie cause if you choose the High Definition box from Movies on Demand a box comes up saying there nothing to choose!

Re: Movies on Demand

No, there is no implication that the movie is HD. It is all to do with copy prevention. These movies can be viewed only through the HDMI connector. The analogue outputs of the TV drive will be disabled, thus preventing recording of the movie by consumers.

Re: Movies on Demand

There are currently no HD movies listed in the movies on demand menu. The High Def sub category is empty!

Re: Movies on Demand

Bad news about the HDMI only thing. My Plasma is a couple of years old and does not have HDMI. Hopefully somebody will create an HDMI to Component crack before long.

Any idea when HD movies will be available?

Looks like they are already available

Cool device and sorts out HDCP issues, however the sound option is a bit naff. I'm sure soon there will be boxes with optical output solutions

Re: Movies on Demand

I have a Philips lcd tv, which has a DVI input and is 'HD Ready' - I've tested out HD video by connecting it to my PC and playing some WMV-HD. However, if films are broadcast with HDCP, and I have the TV drive HDMI output (via adaptor) into the DVI input, does that mean the HDCP won't cause any issues? Or am I a bit screwed as I don't have an HDMI input on the TV?

You would need to make sure the DVI input is HDCP compliant, I think it's rare to find HDCP complaint DVI inputs unless you paid mega bucks for your TV. The manual should confirm this.

Re: Movies on Demand

I believe for a TV to carry the 'HD Ready' logo, the digital input (be it HDMI or DVI) *must* support HDCP.

Look here: http://www.filmflexmovies.co.uk/home.aspx

Click on 'Whats on' and scroll down to High Definition.

Whether this is up to date is another matter.

Re: Movies on Demand

There are no HD movies listed when I go to On Demand's HD section though.
